Close up of Melssa's Quilt

This is a closer view of Melissa's quilt. Not the best of shots as it doesn't show all the tiny buttons and lace that was added.

First attempt at machine embroidery

The idea for this quilt was taken off a stained glass painting book with some slight amendments. Although it doesn't show up too well in the photo, the embroidery element was done free hand on my trusty sewing machine.

This is my first big quilt, I had a go at as many different squares I could find. The books with authors from the USA were remarkably helpful. And the Simply Quilts show inspired me to do more adventurous ones. A large quilt for my granddaughter Cherie's 21st birthday which I didn't photograph. Another for my granddaughter Melissa's 18th which I did.
